I am so happy to have you in my class this year. We are going to have an amazing time and work together as a TEAM to ensure that this year is productive and memorable. 5. Please start saving large empty disinfecting containers for our classroom. EX- Lysol, clorox....

REMINDERS-
1. Please return any necessary forms along with payments in an envelope with your child's name and grade on the envelope and the event's name.
2. Summer work was due 9/8/25- points are being deducted for lateness
3.see your child's green "H" folder for any missing items.
4. As you know our classroom is now air conditioned. Please send your child with a school sweater on if they say they are cold. Please also make sure that their name is inside their school sweater-gym sweatshirt- and school fleece.
5. All pencils should be sharpened every night- with homework
6. Please remember that homework is randomly collected and graded including IXL.
7. All students must have a silent reading book in class -grade level appropriate EVERY DAY!!!!!! All students should have a grade level reading book in class their choice. When they finish reading it, they should switch to a new one.
8. Please remember that you need to email me or write a note to me directly if your child is going home a different way than their usual way even if the person is listed on the emergency contact form. Thank you for your cooperation.
9. Coloring books and crayons are allowed for recess. Please put an extra set of crayons and a coloring book in a ziplock bag with their name on it and place it in your child's school bag.

11. Students NEED to know ON THEIR OWN how to navigate in IXL- weekend homework will start being assigned and randomly graded. Parents I ask that you don't do it for them, because they are struggling in the classroom telling us they don't do it at home.

Student are being taught to solve word problems by using a number line: counting back for subtraction and counting on for addition., they also have been using manipulatives such as cubes as counters, and recently number bonds. Please reinforce those strategies at home.When reviewing for ELA and or Spelling, it is important to spend sufficient time. Read the story over again each night. Review key words, phonics, high Frequency words, skills focused in the story, grammar and vocabulary in context.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CLASSROOM-SCHOOL POLICIES
1. snack & water is sold daily at lunch and on 1/2 days $1.00 each-if you choose to bring in your own snack, it must be PEANUT FREE students should not be bringing in lunch bags on 1/2 days- only if they are aftercare.
2. Please keep seperate water bottles for lunch in lunchbag and one for class out of lunchbag. Parents please check water bottles to make sure the lids are leak proof and securely on- we would like to prevent any spills.
3. Just to remind you students are not allowed to wear their jackets in class...ONLY SCHOOL FLEECE or SCHOOL SWEATER- NO SCHOOL HOODIES. Please refer to the school handbook uniform policy. I ask that you PLEASE label all fleeces, gym sweatshirts, and sweaters with your child's name in them.4. Please check website every night as well as "H" notebooks. Our google classroom is informative as well. Please use it. Homework is to be completed every night in the students handwriting. Missing homework is -5 off of 100 and is not accepted if it is in the wrong book, photocopied or on looseleaf. We pack up every day together and write the books along with the color of the notebook they are to take home. Homework is assigned each night and due the next day.

- Please check your child's water bottle that it is Plastic only and that it is leakproof- NO STANLEY bottles. We will have water bottle breaks at our hydration station... please make sure they are not in metal and are leakproof.
- Review using the bathroom- what is an emergency and what is not. I appreciate it.
- Please make sure that your child eats a well balanced breakfast in the morning. Our lunch is later than last year unfortunately we are not allowed to have snack.
- PLEASE send in your child's sheet of labels if you haven't. They are needed for their books.
- 1. Our School day begins at 7:50am and dismissal is 2:30pm. We enter and exit the school yard side door where the steps are. Please remember that once we enter the building any student after that will be marked late.
2. All parents and guardians on file MUST write a note if your child is being dismissed differently than normal routine - ex: family member/grandparent,another parent in the school... picking up, aftercare, not taking the bus etc.
3. Children are allowed to have a REUSABLE PLASTIC water bottle in school throughout the day. Please only send water in a spill proof container and please check them at home before putting them in their school bags. These water bottles should be separate from lunch bags. NO METAL WATER BOTTLES/HYDRO FLASKS will be allowed.-
4. Please adhere to the uniform policy that can be found in the "handbook" section of our website. Students are allowed to wear their gym uniforms on Yoga and Gym days only. Mrs. O’Connor has touched base with Flynn and O’Hara and they have confirmed that our school’s uniform is NOT on back order-therefore all students should be in proper uniform on the first day of school and moving foward. -
5. Class birthdays can be celebrated in class. Students are welcome to bring in a treat to celebrate their birthday with their classmates. I ask that you stick to one thing: ex: vanilla cupcakes or chocolate cupcakes (not a choice of each)... same with munchkins… we have peanut allergies (must be made in a peanut free facility) and red dye- so NO SPRINKLES. Parents please email me at least one week prior to your child's birthday so that we can plan something together. Summer birthdays will be celebrated during the month of June. -
6. Please email me with any questions or concerns you may have during the school year [email protected]. Please understand if you are emailing me during school hours I will get back to you on a break, or during lunch time if I can. If not, you will hear from me at the end of our school day. I am available Monday-Friday.
7. Please get into the habit of checking and reviewing your child's grades regularly on the report card website; FACTS (it will open in October for the parents). In addition all assessments are returned home in our “BLUE" Tuesday Test Folder". Parents MUST sign and empty out the folder every Tuesday when it comes home. Please send it back on Wednesday mornings. Any and all monies must be put in an envelope, sealed with your child’s name and grade on it and the attention of whom it is going to… Please DO NOT staple money to sheets. Everything needs to be in an envelope.- 8. In first grade we use, on a daily basis, crayons, glue sticks, scissors and pencils. PLEASE check your child’s pencils everyday and make sure they are sharpened…it’s part of homework. All supplies will be kept at school on their desk in their seat book sack. If I see that they need something replaced I will write you a note in their “H” book.
9. Please check their “H” book every night as we begin to introduce copying. Please check the website as well for any clarification. I will write notes in their book as well if need be.
10. If your child is absent, and you are requesting to pick up homework, it will be left at the office at 2:45… not before. If it is going home with another student in the classroom or building, please call the office and let them know.

I must have a note first thing in the morning if your child is going home a diferent way than stated on the first day of school. will be celeberated at lunch/recess time. Treats can be sent in. They must be peanut free, tree nut free and wheat free. They also must be individualy wrapped (in original packaging) you may make goodie bags but they will not be allowed to be opened in the classroom for safety. They will be sent home in the student's backpack.
